Dear Ms. Barbara R. Kavalier, PhD
We received some emails from the students of San Jose City College; they informed that the City College of San Jose will celebrate the First Annual International Education Week. This celebration will display the Vietnamese Communist flag (red base with middle yellow star).
The VC flag appearing in any community place in California will hurt the non-Communist Vietnamese; even San Jose City College’s unintentional display of the VC flag that will make us, the non-Communists Vietnamese, angry because the VC authority has killed our people and have tortured them brutally in the past and present. The VC authority has gravely violated the fundamental Human Rights. More than one hundred fifty thousand Vietnamese live in San Jose, Santa Clara, whom has loved ones that were Communist victims.
You display the VC flag before the Vietnamese survivors such as if you hung the Nazi flag before the Jewish Community. Further, these Vietnamese people have paid tax to help run the Community College of yours, not the VC authority.
Based on the Resolution S1406 signed by Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger on June 14, 2006; he recognized that the golden base with three red stripes flag is the heritage of the Vietnamese community in California. We believe the Vietnamese students from San Jose have attended to the SJ City College with the ratio higher than the students came from Vietnam.
Why have you not displayed the golden base with three red stripes flag as a symbol with other nation flags instead of using the VC flag?
We request you; the SJ City College Staff and Faculty Directory to remove the VC flag to avoid the outrage of the community.
Sincerely Yours,
Tho Dinh Le

Thư hồi âm từ Pḥng Sinh Viên Vụ Đại Học Cộng Đồng San Jose City College xin lỗi cộng đồng Việt Nam v́ sai lầm và đă gỡ lá cờ CSVN ra khỏi các biểu ngữ:
Dear Vietnamese Community,
I truly apologize for my mistake in including a clipart image that displays the Vietnamese Communist Flag. I overlooked it as it was in an image that displayed many different flags.
I would never intentionally display it as I understand the history of our Vietnamese culture and am very sensitive to the challenges that our Vietnamese community have experienced.
I have taken the image of the Vietnamese Communist flag off the current banners. Please feel free to contact me if you have any additional concerns. Thank you.
Sincerely,
Doriann
