[B]Thị trấn này là Buford, chưa lập hiến chương làm thành phố, rộng 10 acres, nằm dọc xa lộ I-80 tiểu bang Wyoming.
Người bán là chủ nhân vùng đất này trong 20 năm qua, Don Sammons. Ông phục vụ trong quân đội Mỹ từ năm 1968-69 trong vai tṛ phát thanh vô tuyến.
Sau khi gặp người mua, ông Sammons xúc động nói về sự éo le trong chi tiết đó.
Người doanh gia mua thành phố này bay từ Việt Nam qua dự cuộc đấu giá nhưng từ chối không gặp báo chí và không muốn nêu tên. Sammons và những người khác từ chối không b́nh luận về kế hoạch của người mua.
Phải mất hơn 30 ngày nữa để hoàn tất giấy tờ chuyển nhượng chủ quyền của thị trấn này, tọa lạc gần như ngay chính giữa Cheyenne và Laramie, miền Đông Nam Wyoming, Sammons nói.
Bà Rozetta Weston, người đại lư địa ốc đại diện bên mua, nói người mua và một người tháp tùng tới Wyoming hôm Thứ Hai, trong chuyến đi đầu tiên tới Mỹ. Họ nghe tin thị trấn này bán qua đọc tin tức trên mạng. Trước khi tới dự buổi đấu giá, hai người này đi thăm thành phố Cheyenne và đại học University of Wyoming at Laramie.
Người mua sẽ là chủ một trạm xăng, một tiệm tạp hóa, một ngôi trường xây năm 1905, một căn nhà nhỏ, một nhà đậu xe, miếng đất 10 acres, và một ngôi nhà 3 pḥng ngủ, tất cả ở độ cao 8000 feet, một bên nh́n ra xa lộ, bên kia nh́n tới dăy núi cao đầy tuyết của công viên quốc gia Rocky Mountain National Park tọa lạc trong tiểu bang Colorado.
Ông Sammons cho biết dự định sẽ viết một cuốn sách về 32 năm sống ở Buford, là thị trấn lâu đời thứ nh́ trong tiểu bang Wyoming. Ông dọn tới đây năm 1980, mua hết bất động sản ở đây năm 1990, và nay định dọn qua Colorado ở gần với con trai. (H.C.)

Anh đă vượt qua 25 người từ nhiều quốc gia trong một cuộc đấu giá nghẹt thở 11 phút, cũng được xem là dài nhất trong các cuộc đấu giá bất động sản ở Mỹ vốn chỉ mất khoảng 3 phút là nhiều.
Theo anh Nguyên, dù giá trị đấu giá chung cuộc 900.000 USD không phải là lớn:o:o “nhưng đây được xem là sự kiện được đông đảo báo giới quốc tế quan tâm do tính độc đáo của thị trấn nhỏ nhất nước Mỹ này”.
“Một trong những hoạt động kinh doanh chính của IDS là phân phối, phát triển thị trường. Sở hữu một thị trấn như Buford là bàn đạp về mặt tinh thần để chúng tôi xuất khẩu sang thị trường Mỹ những thương hiệu Việt Nam. Đồng thời cũng là cơ hội để chúng tôi giới thiệu những thương hiệu mới mà chúng tôi sở hữu” - anh Nguyên cho biết.
Khẳng định mình không phải là “đại gia”, anh Nguyên cho hay việc tìm đến cuộc đấu giá này diễn ra rất nhanh.
“Ư tưởng mua một thị trấn chỉ mới cách đây không đầy hai tuần khi tôi t́nh cờ đọc được tin trên báo mạng. Thành thật mà nói, tôi chưa có một kế hoạch cụ thể nào cho thị trấn này. Nhưng một điều tôi nghĩ người Việt Nam chúng ta không nên tự ti. Không có ǵ là không thể!” - anh Nguyên nói.
Anh Nguyên có bà con bên Mỹ hỗ trợ cho vay để mua thị trấn này. Hiện người nhà bên Mỹ của anh Nguyên chỉ mới đặt cọc 100.000 USD. Trong 30 ngày tới, người nhà của anh Nguyên sẽ phải chuyển tiếp 800.000 USD c̣n lại.
Ngoài ra, anh Nguyên còn phải trả thêm một số chi phí liên quan việc làm giấy tờ, phí môi giới...
