President Trump will sign a sweeping executive order on Tuesday to begin the process of dismantling environmental regulations implemented under the Obama administration to aggressively fight climate change.
The Energy Independence executive order, which Trump will sign at the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), attacks the core of President Obama’s 2013 Climate Action Plan. A senior White House official said Monday that the order “directs the EPA to suspend, revise, or rescind the Clean Power Plan,” adding that the EPA would “proceed in a manner that upholds the rule of law” and would continue to abide by the Clean Air Act.

The White House on Tuesday promoted a Ford investment in American plants, most of which was part of a plan the automaker first announced in 2015.
The U.S. auto giant on Tuesday outlined new details of its planned $9 billion in U.S. facility investments through 2019. The company said it planned to create or retain 8,500 jobs as part of its 2015 contract with the United Auto Workers.
Ford gave more specifics of its U.S. investment plan Tuesday, saying it will put $1.2 billion into three Michigan plants, planning to create or retain 130 jobs at one of those facilities. About $350 million of that total — including $200 million for a data center — is new, Joe Hinrichs, Ford's president for the Americas, told CNBC.
President Donald Trump trumpeted the "big announcement" before it happened in a Tuesday morning tweet, suggesting it related to his efforts to get American car companies to invest at home.
Trump Proposes Slashing Medical Research This Year, Too http://www.nbcnews.com/health/health-news/trump-proposes-slashing-medical-research-year-too-n739761
President Donald Trump, who had just proposed slashing the National Institutes of Health's budget for next year by 20 percent, suggested an immediate $1.2 billion cut to the agency Tuesday.
There's still not a proper budget to run the country this year. Congress passed a kind of holding measure called a continuing resolution at the end of last year and left the real work for after Trump took office.
Trump laid out a vague plan for 2018 earlier this month, and on Tuesday the White House released ideas for this year's budget. Congress is responsible for spending bills, but whoever's president usually lays out a plan for the House and Senate to follow.
Congress, however, has in general been supportive of medical research spending.
