    Hymn ! I heard differently :)

Cornell jumped in after Stanford withdrew its bid, definitely not due to financial reason. It was a front runner.

Anyway, I received email notifications from Stanford alumni about this whole bidding business and competition.

But, really, either Cornell or Stanford is fine in my opinion.

Well, Cornell has a big advantage, being already in NY, and all.

The $350M gift for Cornell played a crucial part in the Stanford withdrawal, according to NY Times.

"...Cornell’s fundraising edge was a factor in Stanford’s decision to withdraw its bid, The New York Times reported, citing anonymous sources..."

It's a healthy competition. Cornell has a geopolitical, financial advantage. Stanford is a little too far away.

On weekends, Cornell professors from Ithaca could go down to NYC to teach weekend courses, while Stanford professors could not.

It is not a loss for Stanford, it is just a huge gain for Cornell.

Anyway, please tune in at 2:30, see what they say.

    My email read:

    I'd like to, but I'm not a Cornellian ! :)

I just don't understand that Harvard, MIT, Princeton, and Yale have never expressed their interest in the New York Mayor's proposal, why Stanford, especially in regard to its geography ?

Stanford is already the largest, or second largest, university in the world in terms of the area of the land, with over 8000 acres. I really enjoyed the campus when I was a student there. Personally speaking, I wouldn't go for the New York campus on the Roosevelt island. Stanford president John Hennessy was interested in this proposal because, I guess, he originally came from New York and he wanted to take advantage of Mr Bloomberg's call to connect his Alma Matter and Stanford through this multi-party agreement.

Haha, that made sense. I lived in NY for several yrs, didn't know, or even hear of, Roosevelt Island. Hope it's not an abandoned corner somewhere.

Cornell is expanding fast. It built a huge medical campus in Qata a few yrs ago.

    Hail to the Chief!

So proud of my chief, he speaks so well, not even using or teleprompter.

In his former career, he was a neurologist.

You already got my endorsement for the presidential post of Dai Viet Dan Quoc but I'm not sure about the above phrase "Doctors make best leaders" ! :) It depends.
